Research & Data
POGO’s Research & Data initiatives, implemented across three key pillars, are key to achieving our vision and mission.
The PRU undertakes research activities that focus on specific priorities within the spectrum of childhood cancer control. It focuses on the areas of epidemiological studies, health services research, health economics and status of survivors/quality of life.
Accessible data collected in a reliable and timely manner are foundational to health system planning and service delivery. By maintaining multiple data holdings containing personal health information (PHI) related to childhood cancer care, survivorship and supporting POGO programs and services, POGO has grown into a substantial data repository on childhood cancer in Ontario.
POGO monitors and publicly reports on the burden of childhood cancer in Ontario, and provides data to hospitals related to childhood cancer. Data reports are important for enhancing data-driven quality improvement, one of POGO’s key strategic goals.
